AiT Semiconductor Introduces DC-DC Boost Converter for Bluetooth Applications

AiT Semiconductor, a leading fabless IC design company ISO9001/ISO14001 registered, devoted to the design and marketing of analog & mixed-signal integrated circuits, has introduced the A7534, a boost DC-DC converter (step-up) that steps up an input voltage of 2.7 V to an output voltage of 3.3 V, providing a boosted output voltage while receiving signals from a low voltage source.

This converter offers a proprietary design that allows it to start up at a very low input voltage down to 0.9 V, and only consumes 15 µA in standby mode, making it an ideal choice for single cell alkaline/NiMH battery operations.

A switching frequency of 1 MHz minimizes solution footprint by allowing the use of tiny, low profile inductors and ceramic capacitors. The current mode pulse width modulation (PWM) design is internally compensated and reduces the number of external parts.

Key features

  1. Efficiency up to 95% at an input voltage of 2.7 V and an output voltage of 3.3 V
  2. Typical 15 µA standby current
  3. 1 MHz switching frequency allows small inductor and output cap
  4. Input boost-strapping allows using small or no input cap
  5. Low input voltage start-up voltage down to 0.9 V; ideal for single Alkaline cell operations
  6. Maximum output current up to 300 mA
  7. Low noise PWM control
  8. Internally compensated current mode control
  9. Internal synchronous rectifier
  10. Available in SOT-23 and SOT89-3 packages

Key applications

  1. One to Three Cell Battery Operated Devices
  2. Medical Instruments
  3. Bluetooth Headsets
  4. Flash-Based MP3 Players
  5. Noise Canceling Headphones

This DC-DC converter is available in two surface-mount package variants.
