Monolithic Power Systems Unveils Battery Management IC for Consumer Electronics

Monolithic Power Systems, a leading company in high-performance power solutions, has unveiled the MP2755, a highly integrated, bidirectional charging solution for 2-cell Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries. It employs an inductor-less switched capacitor architecture, and it can provide up to 10 A of output current (IOUT) in forward mode and 5 A charge current in reverse mode.

The MP2755 is suitable for applications migrating from a 1-cell battery to a 2-cell battery configuration. When working with a 2-cell battery, the MP2755 can be treated as a virtual 1-cell battery, allowing the existing downstream 1-cell power architecture to be compatible with 2-cell battery packs.

The MP2755 integrates a shipping mode function to shut down the V1X output with minimal battery current consumption. It also supports a system reset function. The I2C interface offers complete operating control, charging/discharging parameter configurations, and status monitoring.

The MP2755 is available in a WLCSP-42 (2.9 mm x 2.55 mm) package.
