Diodes Incorporated Unveils Non-Isolated Buck Converter for IoT and Smart Devices

Diodes Incorporated has introduced the AL17052, a new high-voltage, non-isolated buck/step-down converter designed for IoT and smart device applications. Featuring an integrated 700 V MOSFET, the AL17052 delivers a high-efficiency, cost-effective power conversion solution, making it ideal for a range of low-standby power applications.

Key features

  • Ultra-Low Standby Power: With a standby power consumption of less than 10 mW, the AL17052 conserves energy in standby mode, contributing to overall system efficiency.
  • Fast Startup Time: The device offers an ultra-fast startup time of under 10 ms, enabling quicker system response from standby mode.
  • Integrated 700 V MOSFET: The built-in MOSFET supports universal mains input voltages, reducing the need for additional external components and simplifying design.
  • Compact Design: The AL17052 operates with a small 330 µH inductor for 50 mA output current, reducing both inductor size and overall PCB footprint, thereby lowering system costs.
  • High Efficiency: The converter achieves up to 60% efficiency at 50mA output current and 50% efficiency at light loads of 10mA, meeting ENERGY STAR requirements across a range of load conditions.

Protection Features: The AL17052 includes comprehensive protection mechanisms to enhance system safety and reliability, such as overtemperature protection, VCC undervoltage lockout, overcurrent protection, and overload protection.

Applications: The AL17052 is ideal for auxiliary power and BLE rail generation in:

  • Home appliances
  • IoT applications
  • Industrial controls
  • Low-standby power applications

Available in the compact SOT25 package, the AL17052 offers a powerful solution for developers seeking to optimize the efficiency and size of their IoT and smart device designs.
