Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) has introduced MPQ8894, a complete power management IC (PMIC) that integrates four high-efficiency, step-down DC/DC converters and a flexible logic interface in a single package for DDR5. The MPQ8894 provides consists of channel buck outputs. Buck A and Buck B are configured to a dual-phase, interleaving buck converter with current-sharing performance while Buck C and Buck D are configured to two single-phase buck converters that are designed to support the specific power requirements of DDR5.
The DC/DC converter provides constant-on-time (COT) control for fast transient response. A 500 kHz to 1250 kHz configurable switching frequency (fSW) significantly reduces external inductor and capacitor size. Full protection features include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), and thermal shutdown.
