AiT Semiconductor has introduced the A4771A, a highly efficient power distribution switch designed for both self-powered and bus-powered Universal Serial Bus (USB) applications. The A4771A features a built-in 52 mΩ high-side P-channel MOSFET switch that prevents reverse current when powered off, ensuring protection during high-load conditions. It includes safety features such as current limit and thermal shutdown to mitigate risks of failure caused by excessive power dissipation, especially during short circuits or heavy loads.
With an operating range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V and support for continuous load currents up to 2.1 A, the A4771A is designed for use in devices like notebook PCs, USB-powered hubs, and smart TVs. Additional features include a fast 2 μs over-current response, under-voltage lockout, reverse-voltage protection, and a 1.2 ms soft start time, enhancing the safety and reliability of power management systems.
The device, available in SOT-25 packages, also offers a deglitched open-drain over-current flag output and a 250 Ω discharge tube for certain versions, making it ideal for modern electronics like notebooks and set-top boxes.
