Toshiba Introduces Stepping Motor Driver IC Series for Industrial Equipments

Toshiba has added a new product, “TB67S559FTG“ to its lineup of stepping motor driver IC series that support constant current control, for OA equipment and industrial equipment (robots, financial equipment, etc.) The new driver carries out constant current motor control without current sensing resistors. It is a voltage/current rating upgraded product and is compatible with the pin/function of TB67S539FTG.

TB67S559FTG delivers a motor output voltage rating of 50 V and a motor output current rating of 3.0 A by using Toshiba’s latest DMOSFET device. Low on-resistance (upper + lower) between the output transistor drain and source, 0.4Ω (typ.), reduces heat. (Toshiba’s existing product, TB67S539FTG 0.8 Ω (typ.))Similar to TB67S539FTG, this product eliminates the need for external current sensing resistors by building a current detection part that is used for constant-current motor control.

The H-bridge circuit for motor control has an Nch/Nch configuration and a built-in charge pump circuit for output stage control. Nch/Nch configuration generally requires an external capacitor for the charge pump, but the new product incorporates the external capacitor for the charge pump, eliminating the need for external components. This contributes to the reduction of external components and the space-saving of the mounting area.

The package uses the same small P-VQFN32-0505-0.5 package as TB67S539FTG. In addition, pin/function compatibility makes it easy to replace from TB67S539FTG to TB67S559FTG without having to change the board when low heat and upgraded ratings are required. It also supports an 8.2 V to 44 V power supply for motor drive and can be used in a wide range of applications that require 12 V drive and 36 V drive as well as 24 V drive applications.
