The FAN54120 from ON Semiconductor is a USB-Compliant Single Cell Li-Ion Linear Charger IC that has been designed for stand-alone use, requiring no user interaction or active supervision. It requires an input voltage of 4 - 6 V. This BMIC consists of a charge pump, oscillator, logic, and control circuit, integrated MOSFETs, and protection circuits. It supports dead battery revival, pre-charge, fast charge, and float charge states. The charger can easily set the fast charging current with an external resistor, providing more control over the charging process. It includes pre-charge and charges complete currents that are pre-set at the factories while ensuring optimal charging performance.
This BMIC consists of an open-drain STAT pin that provides charge and/or fault status indication, enabling continuous monitoring of the charging process. It is equipped with "Power Back" capability, which allows accessories to source power directly from the battery and is particularly useful when there is a need for powering additional components, such as a GPS or wireless module. This BMIC is available in a wafer-level package that measures 1.36 x 0.76 mm and is ideal for e-cigarettes, vapes, toys, drones, digital cameras, cell phones, gaming devices, wireless speakers, headphones, and IoT applications.
