The HL8520EGA01 from HMI is a Hot-Swap/e-fuse IC that has been designed to protect load circuitry from input transients. It requires an input voltage of 2.7 - 16 V and an input current of less than 20 A. This hot-swap/e-fuse IC integrates a 2.8 milli-ohms Power FET transistor and provides an output voltage of 3.3 V (LDO). It includes an adjustable over-current limit, fault regulation time and adjustable short-circuit current limit for safe operation. This hot-swap/e-Fuse IC provides a current monitor accuracy of ±1% with a fast response of less than 200 ns for short protection. It includes features such as power good (PG) detector, FLTB indication and input-to-output short-circuit detection for added protection.
This hot-swap/e-Fuse IC has an external adjustable soft start (SS) function and programmable LOADEN blanking time to efficiently control and block undesirable current surges in the circuit. It provides a configurable input over-voltage (OV) threshold and benefits from under-voltage lockout (UVLO), output short-circuits protection (SCP), thermal protection (OTP) and e-fuse health reporting functionalities. This hot-swap/e-fuse IC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm and is suitable for hot-swap, laptops, disk drives and server applications.
