The STPMIC02TR from STMicroelectronics is a Power Management IC that is tailored to protect electronic devices against current and/or voltage spikes. It requires an input voltage of 10.5 - 13.2 V or 4.3 - 5.5 V and an input current of less than 2.5 A. This IC consists of two eFuse ICs (12 V and 5 V), two switching regulators, and a digital interface. It utilizes both the eFuse ICs within the device to offer protection capabilities such as current limit, current monitor, voltage clamp, thermal protection, and soft-start with current limit while the 5 V eFuse IC further provides reverse current blocking function. The IC’s switching regulators also include built-in soft-start, over-current protection (OCP), and under-voltage monitoring to ensure a reliable power supply for the device. It can be remotely controlled with a microprocessor via the I2C serial interface (3.4 MHz) to set the functions and read status of the IC. This protection IC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3.5 x 4.5 x 1.0 mm.
