The MIC6930RT from Microchip Technology is a Radiation Tolerant Low Dropout Current Regulator that has been built to sustain the most demanding requirements of the aerospace environment. This regulator requires an input voltage of 1.65 - 5.5 V. It provides an output voltage of 0.65 - 4.5 V and has a dropout voltage of less than 500 mV. This current regulator integrates an error amplifier, voltage reference, pass transistor, protection circuits, and other passive components such as resistors and capacitors. It supports high-current applications that require a fast transient response and utilizes a single input supply with a very low dropout voltage that is suitable for low-voltage DC-DC conversion.

This RoHS-compliant regulator incorporates µCap design that has been optimized for stability and embeds two low-equivalent series resistance (ESR) ceramic capacitors to ensure correct operation under radiation environment in space applications. It has built-in logic-controlled shutdown, thermal shutdown, soft-start function, and short-circuit protection circuits to prevent over-current-related damages. The regulator is available in a surface-mount package that measures 25.00 x 6.48 mm and is ideal for FPGA, PLD, DSP, low-voltage DC-DC conversion, and microcontroller applications.
