The A4982 from Allegro MicroSystems is a Microstepping Motor Driver IC that has been designed to control bipolar stepper motors from full-step up to 1/16 step modes. It requires an input voltage of up to 35 V and provides an output current of less than 2 A. It includes a fixed off-time current regulator which can operate in slow or mixed decay modes. This motor driver has an automatic current decay mode detection/selection feature. It is compatible with 3.3 and 5 V logic supplies and includes synchronous rectification for low power dissipation. This motor driver integrates thermal shutdown, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), shorted load protection, short-to-ground and crossover-current protection for improved circuit immunity. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 5 x 5 x 0.9 mm and is ideal for commercial and industrial applications.
