The HL9510SC06 from Elevation Semiconductor is a Flyback PWM controller that is designed for USB PD/PPS or conventional DP/DN protocol communication. It requires an input voltage of up to 80 V. This PMIC supports operation in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), quasi-resonant (QR) mode, and continuous conduction mode (CCM) and uses a proprietary CCM SR-turn-off control algorithm to efficiently control the power delivered to the device. It optimizes efficiency by using valley switching with fixed blanking time for heavy loads and variable blanking time for medium loads. This PMIC regulates the constant output voltage (CV) through an optocoupler feedback controller with a shunt regulator and has an HV starting. It supplies a steady gate voltage to control an external power switch through the VREG pin, and the brown-in voltage is programmed using an external DMAG pin resistor.
This PMIC is equipped with VDD overvoltage protection (VDD OVP), VDMAG over-voltage protection (VDMAG OVP), VDMAG under-voltage protection (VDMAG UVP), internal over-temperature protection (OTP), brown-out protection, and externally triggered shut-down (SD) function to prevent saturation or short-circuit-related damages. It is available in a surface mount package and is ideal for battery chargers for smartphones and tablet PCs, adapters for portable devices and flyback power supplies with low and/or variable output voltage applications.
