The DA9212-XXUU2 from Renesas is a Power Management IC that is designed to supply power to CPUs, GPUs, and DDR memory rails in smartphones, tablets and other handheld applications. It requires an input voltage of 2.8 - 5.5 V and provides an output voltage of 0.3 - 1.57 V. This power management IC (PMIC) integrates two dual-phase buck converters and each phase uses a small external inductor. It incorporates a programmable soft start-up that limits the inrush current from the input node.
This PMIC benefits from dynamic voltage control (DVC) and supports adaptive adjustment of the supply voltage depending on the processor load. It includes voltage tracking functionality allowing complete control of the buck converter from external signals in the platform. This PMIC features integrated over-temperature and over-current protection for increased system reliability without the need for external sensing components. It also supports configurable I2C address selection via general purpose input/output (GPIO) pins for efficient communication. This PMIC is available in a wafer-level package that measures 2.85 x 2.5 mm.
