What is an AC-DC LED Driver?
AC-DC LED driver IC is a type of LED driver IC that is used to drive the LED directly from the AC main supply via a bridge rectifier. Filter circuits are placed between the AC line and the DC-DC converter section.
The DC input (unregulated) is applied to the DC-DC converter/linear/floating switch topology circuit. The output is rectified and filtered. The DC-DC converter/linear/floating switch topology circuit transforms the unregulated DC input voltage into the required form to drive the voltage and current of LED/LEDs with the required illumination. The LED lights may be connected in series or parallel, or combination.
Key features of AC-DC LED Driver ICs:
- Built-in power factor correction function.
- Support PWM & linear dimming function.
- Excellent line and load regulation.
- LED open and short protection.
- Under-voltage and over-voltage protection.
- Over-current detection function.
- Thermal protection.
- Low EMI noise.
AC to DC LED driver ICs are ideal for LED bulb, down-light, tube Light, electrical machinery for LED lighting, smart LED lighting, infrared remote control light, motion-sensing LED light, LED luminaires, integral LED bulbs, LED power driver supplies, residential, commercial and industrial LED lighting applications.
