What is a Brushless DC Motor Drivers?

Brushless DC Motor Driver is used to drive the voltage and current of brushless DC motor stator windings in a sequence. The sequence of stator windings energizations is determined by the relative positions of stator and rotor. The relative positions of stator and rotor are measured by using Hall-effect sensors/encoders or by measuring back electromagnetic force (EMF) due to rotation of the rotor.

Brushless DC Motor Driver consists of a gate driver and power driver circuits to drive the motor windings, control logic circuits, PWM generating circuits, serial interface circuits, and has protection features such as under-voltage Lockout (UVLO) protection, over-voltage protection, short circuit protection, over current protection, and thermal protection.
