What is a Stepper Motor Driver?

Stepper motor also called stepping motor, is a type of DC Motor that rotates in fixed angular steps when the sequence of electric pulses is applied to it. Stepper motor drivers are used to drive the voltage and current of stepper motor stator windings as per the sequence. It consists of a gate driver and power driver circuits to drive the motor windings, control logic circuits, PWM generating circuits, serial interface circuits, and has protection features such as under-voltage Lockout (UVLO) protection, over-voltage protection, short circuit protection, over current protection, and thermal protection.
