What are Molded Power Inductors?

Molded power inductor is a type of inductor that is constructed by pressing or molding a magnetic material around a pre-wound coil and lead-frame to form the inductor. The molded magnetic materials act as a core and are made of an ultra-thin mixture of materials such as nickel-zinc ferrite, manganese, powder iron, and metal alloy. The inductor stores energy in magnetic form when current flows through it.
