The MPQ4346GLE-33-AEC1-Z from Monolithic Power Systems is an Automotive Qualified Synchronous Buck DC-DC Converter that converts an input voltage of 3.3 - 45 V to an output voltage of 3.3 V. This DC-DC converter has a switching frequency of 350 - 1000 kHz. It includes control logic, low-side and high-side power MOSFETs, an internal clock oscillator with support for an external clock, a voltage regulator, voltage reference, a bootstrap (BST) regulator, and protection circuits. This converter works in two different modes – forced continuous conduction mode (FCCM) and asynchronous advanced modulation (AAM), to control switching frequency, gate driver losses, and output ripples, thereby improving efficiency under light-load and no-load conditions. It uses the frequency foldback technique to help prevent the runaway of inductor current and supports automotive cold-crank conditions with high-duty cycle and low dropout mode.
The DC-DC converter has undergone CISPR25 Class-5 compliance test procedures, provides switching frequency configurability, consists of a symmetric input voltage pin-out configuration, and uses frequency spread spectrum (FSS) modulation that results in electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction and optimization.
