The AOZ2295QI-05 from Alpha & Omega Semiconductor is a Synchronous DC-DC Buck Regulator IC that is ideal for tablets and notebook computer applications. It requires an input voltage of 5.5 - 25 V and provides an output current of 12 A. This power management IC (PMIC) consists of internal FETs, timing generators, timer, ultrasonic mode logic, decoder, flip flops, error amplifiers, reference and bias, current information processing unit, logic gates, power good (PG) logic, and protection circuits. It includes a proprietary constant on-time pulse width modulation (PWM) control with input feed-forward, resulting in an ultra-fast transient response while maintaining a relatively constant switching frequency over the entire input voltage range. This PMIC also integrates a ceramic capacitor at the output to ensure stability and power good output. It has an external soft-start mechanism to limit the in-rush current and ensure that the output voltage ramps up smoothly to regulate the voltage.
This regulator IC includes cycle-by-cycle current limit, short-circuit protection (SCP), and thermal shutdown circuitries to prevent over-current-related damages. It is available in a thermally-enhanced surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm.
