The AS1100WL-T from Ams Osram is an 8-Digit LED Driver IC that is ideal for bar-graph displays, industrial controllers, white goods such as washing machines and dishwashers, and LED matrix display applications. It requires an input voltage of 4-5.5 V and an input current of 330 mA. This driver has been designed for 7-segment displays with control using 8 digits at a time. It consists of a BCD code-B decoder, a multiplex scan circuitry, segment and display drivers, and a 64-bit memory. This memory can be used to store LED settings, which eliminates the need for continuous reprogramming of the driver. This LED driver allows independent control of each LED segment, thereby supporting separate addressing and updating of values. It also includes an external resistor to set the current through the LED display.
This 8-digit LED driver supports clock frequencies of up to 10 MHz and synchronizes the serial data with the rising edge of the signal at the clock input. It can be remotely controlled through a microprocessor via a software package, which can also be used to reset the driver and utilize an external clock to enhance synchronization capabilities. This LED driver has a shutdown current of 20 µA, resulting in low power consumption. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 15.40 x 10.30 mm.
