The FA8A80N from Fuji Electric is a Current-Mode Switching Power Supply Control IC designed to directly drive power MOSFETs. It requires a supply voltage of 10-24 V and has a frequency of 65 kHz. It includes a built-in discharge function for the AC input filter capacitor (XCAP), reducing the loss of the discharge resistors. This PMIC supports frequency reduction for improving efficiency in the middle-load region and burst operation modes for light load operation in low standby power. It is equipped with overload protection with auto-recovery and latch options, overvoltage and undervoltage safeguards, overheat protection, and an external latch-off function. This PMIC also features internal soft-start and sets a minimum switching frequency of 25 kHz to prevent operation at audible noise under light load. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 6 x 5 mm.
