Gigawatt-Scale Green Hydrogen Production with HyLink Alkaline Platform

Gigawatt-Scale Green Hydrogen Production with HyLink Alkaline Platform

As industrial sectors accelerate decarbonization strategies and transition toward low-carbon energy infrastructure, large-scale green hydrogen production is becoming increasingly important across refining, chemicals, ammonia, and heavy industrial applications. Sunfire Alkaline Technology highlights Sunfire’s HyLink® Alkaline electrolysis platform designed to support scalable industrial hydrogen production through pressurized alkaline electrolyzer technology and modular large-scale system architectures.

The company’s HyLink® Alkaline portfolio is built around pressurised alkaline electrolysis (AEL) technology engineered for industrial-scale green hydrogen generation. The platform includes the 10 MW HyLink® Alkaline 22 module for projects up to 100 MW, alongside the larger 50 MW HyLink® Alkaline 23 module developed for large-scale hydrogen infrastructure projects requiring lower total plant CAPEX and scalable deployment capability.

A major technical aspect of the platform is Sunfire’s second-generation pressurized alkaline stack technology operating at 30 bar(g) pressure. According to the company, the higher operating pressure significantly reduces downstream hydrogen compression requirements, helping lower operational and infrastructure costs within industrial hydrogen plants. The AEL stack architecture additionally supports 67% LHV DC efficiency while enabling dynamic operation and grid-compliant integration with renewable energy sources.

The HyLink® Alkaline 23 system is specifically designed for triple-digit megawatt hydrogen projects through a modular outdoor deployment architecture. Sunfire states that the 50 MW module integrates centralized plant components, standard air-cooling systems, optimized interfaces, and increased prefabrication levels to simplify installation and commissioning while reducing total installed costs by up to 50%. In a 100 MW deployment scenario, the architecture reduces the number of required electrolyzer modules from ten to two while eliminating the need for dedicated electrolyzer buildings.

Sunfire additionally emphasises operational reliability and industrial scalability through preassembled, pretested stack delivery, low-degradation stack design, and in-house AEL stack manufacturing capabilities. The company’s electroplating and galvanisation processes are designed to enhance cathode efficiency and corrosion protection while supporting long-term performance in industrial hydrogen production.

Beyond electrolyzer hardware, Sunfire supports the broader hydrogen production value chain through engineering, procurement, manufacturing, commissioning, and maintenance services for industrial electrolysis projects. By combining pressurized alkaline electrolysis, modular large-scale deployment architectures, and industrialized stack manufacturing, Sunfire’s HyLink® Alkaline platform is designed to support the next phase of industrial green hydrogen scale-up and renewable energy-driven hydrogen infrastructure development.
