Using standard motor ratings and operating conditions, it provides a quick and practical tool for evaluating motor behavior across different operating points.
Example:
For an Induction Motor with 4 poles, a rated voltage of 400 V, a rated current of 10 A, a Power Factor of 0.9, a rated speed of 1450 rpm, an efficiency of 85%, and with a supply frequency of 50 Hz,
Synchronous Speed = (120 x 50)/40 = 1500 RPM
Slip = (1500-1450)/1500 = 0.0333
Input Power = √3 x 400 x 10 x 0.9 = 6235 W
Output Power = (6235 x 85)/100 = 5299.75 W
Torque = (5299.75 x 60)/(2π x 1450) ≈ 35 Nm
