Xos Develops Integrated Fleet Electrification Infrastructure Through XES

Xos is advancing the electrification of commercial fleets through Xos Energy Solutions (XES™), a comprehensive infrastructure platform designed to support the deployment, operation, and optimization of charging systems for battery-electric trucks. The solution integrates charging infrastructure design, deployment, energy management, and operational analytics, enabling fleet operators to transition from internal combustion vehicles to electric fleets while maintaining operational reliability.

The XES platform begins with a detailed site and fleet analysis to determine the optimal charging architecture for a given depot or fleet facility. This process evaluates parameters such as vehicle duty cycles, route lengths, battery capacity, daily energy consumption, vehicle dwell time, available grid capacity, and anticipated fleet growth. Using this data, the company designs a tailored charging infrastructure capable of supporting both current operational requirements and long-term electrification plans.

Following the assessment phase, Xos engineers develop a custom charging system architecture that includes power distribution design, electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) selection, and integration with facility electrical infrastructure. The company manages the full deployment process, including utility interconnection, permitting, electrical system upgrades, charger installation, and system commissioning. This end-to-end approach ensures that charging systems can reliably support the high-power charging demands associated with medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

A key component of the XES ecosystem is the Xos Hub™ mobile charging platform, a trailer-mounted charging system designed to provide flexible and rapidly deployable charging capability. The Xos Hub integrates onboard battery energy storage with DC fast charging hardware, enabling it to deliver high-power charging to multiple electric trucks simultaneously. The system can either draw electricity directly from the grid or store energy within its internal battery system for later use, allowing fleets to deploy charging infrastructure even in locations where permanent grid upgrades are not immediately available. This mobile charging architecture can support temporary fleet operations, pilot electrification programs, or facilities awaiting permanent charging infrastructure.

The XES platform also integrates with Xosphere™, Xos’ cloud-based fleet management and telematics platform, which provides real-time monitoring and analytics for both vehicles and charging infrastructure. Through this system, fleet operators can track vehicle state-of-charge, charging events, energy consumption, and charger utilization. The data platform enables operators to optimize charging schedules, manage energy demand, and maintain fleet availability while minimizing operational costs.

By combining infrastructure deployment, mobile charging solutions, and digital fleet management tools into a unified platform, Xos Energy Solutions is designed to address many of the technical challenges associated with fleet electrification. The platform is particularly suited for commercial fleet applications such as last-mile delivery, parcel logistics, utilities, and service fleets, where vehicles operate on predictable routes and return to centralized depots for charging.
