Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components, will feature a single-phase AC input 3 kW PFC power supply system reference design at PCIM Europe 2026 that has been developed in collaboration with Arrow. Visitors to Booth 7-422 in Hall 7 can see the reference design in operation during the three-day event, June 9-11 at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre in Germany.

Energy-saving initiatives and customer expectations are driving the increase in efficiency and decrease in the dimensions of power supplies. The exhibited single-phase AC input 3 kW PFC power supply has a power density of more than 40 W/in³ and a full-load efficiency of 98 percent. Using a high-frequency PFC front end enabled by SiC devices, an advanced totem-pole PFC controller, and a high-frequency LLC stage running up to 150 kHz using high-speed synchronous rectification on the output stage achieves the high power density required. The reference design incorporates high-frequency power magnetics specifically developed by Bourns for this application, which feature a low-profile form factor combined with high-efficiency and isolation capabilities.
