Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS), a global leader in discrete power devices, wide band gap power devices, and power management ICs, has announced the release of two groundbreaking αMOS5 600V FRD Super Junction MOSFETs. These advanced MOSFETs are optimized to address the high-efficiency demands in LLC, PSFB converters, and H-4 and Cyclo-Inverters for Solar/ESS applications.
αMOS5 is AOS’s proven high-voltage MOSFET platform, strategically designed to meet the efficiency and density requirements of various applications, including servers, workstations, telecom rectifiers, solar inverters, EV charging, motor drives, and industrial power applications.
The challenges faced by today's mid-high power switched-mode power supply (SMPS) and solar inverter systems revolve around higher efficiency, increased density, reduced system costs, and uncompromised robustness. High Voltage Super Junction MOSFETs, such as αMOS5, are the preferred choice for topologies like single/interleaved/dual boost/CrCM TP PFCs, LLC, PSFB, and multi-level NPC/ANPC.
αMOS5 stands out as the leading High Voltage Super Junction solution, offering fast switching, ease-of-use, and robustness in mission-critical applications. The newly released αMOS5 600V FRD Super Junction MOSFETs, named AOK095A60FD (TO-247) and AOTF125A60FDL (TO-220F), feature 95mohm and 125mohm maximum Rdson, respectively.
AOS engineers conducted tests demonstrating the robustness of these MOSFETs, with their body diodes proving resilient under abnormal system conditions, such as short-circuits or start-up transients, even at elevated junction temperatures of up to 150°C. Notably, the turn-off energy (Eoff) of these devices is significantly lower than their competitors', contributing to higher efficiency in light or mid-load conditions.
