MCC Semiconductor Introduces Bidirectional ESD Protection Diodes for Sensitive Electronics Applications

MCC Semi has unveiled its latest innovation in electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection with the launch of Ultra-Low Capacitance Bidirectional ESD Protection Diodes. Designed to safeguard sensitive electronics in high-speed applications, these diodes offer robust protection without compromising signal integrity.

Available in two voltage options—1.5 V and 3.3 V—the new diodes include the CSPSBULC1V5AE and CSPSBULC1V5LB (1.5 V) as well as the CSPSBULC3V3AE and CSPSBULC3V3LB (3.3 V). These devices have undergone rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance, meeting industry standards for ESD immunity and lightning surge protection.

Key features of the diodes include:

  • Low Clamping Voltage: With a clamping voltage of just 2.9 V, these diodes provide efficient ESD protection while maintaining signal quality.
  • Ultra-Low Capacitance: At just 0.2 pF (typical), these diodes are ideal for minimizing signal distortion in applications such as Thunderbolt 3, USB4, and other high-speed interfaces.
  • High ESD Immunity: The diodes are rated for ±15 kV air discharge and ±12 kV contact discharge, in line with the IEC 61000-4-2 standard.
  • Lightning Protection: They can handle surges of up to 4A (8/20μs), providing reliable performance under lightning conditions.
  • Bidirectional Protection: Offering protection in both directions, these diodes are versatile for various circuit designs.
  • Compact Packages: The diodes are available in CSP0201 and CSP1006-2 SMD packages, making them easy to integrate into space-constrained designs.
  • High Reliability: Engineered for long-term stability and durability, these diodes are well-suited for demanding consumer electronics and industrial applications.

With these advanced features, MCC Semi’s Ultra-Low Capacitance Bidirectional ESD Protection Diodes ensure the reliable operation of sensitive electronics, making them a top choice for designers seeking robust ESD protection in their high-speed applications.
