Diodes Incorporated has unveiled the AP22919Q, a fault-protected load switch designed to simplify power management and sequencing in automotive applications. With its automotive-compliant design, the AP22919Q addresses the increasing need for efficient sequence and power control, ensuring stable and optimized power delivery in complex automotive systems.
The AP22919Q operates over a wide input voltage range of 1.6 V to 5.5 V and supports load currents up to 1.5 A. It features a built-in P-channel MOSFET with a low RDS(ON) of 90 milli-ohms, which enhances efficiency in power distribution. A controlled turn-on slew rate minimizes inrush current during startup, ensuring a stable input voltage and protecting sensitive system components.
To enhance reliability, the AP22919Q incorporates robust protection mechanisms. It offers a fast short-circuit response within 2 μs, preventing unnecessary system disruptions. Additionally, the device includes a thermal shutdown feature that activates at 180°C to safeguard against overheating. A Quick Output Discharge (QOD) pin ensures that the system starts in a known state by discharging the output capacitor during power-down events.
The AP22919Q is also designed with a smart enable pin featuring a pull-down resistor, which keeps the device off until the system processor is ready. This ensures controlled and reliable system startup. Its compact SOT363 package makes it ideal for applications where PCB space is limited, providing flexibility for modern automotive designs.
This versatile load switch is particularly well-suited for automotive applications such as infotainment systems, electronic cluster displays, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), button backlighting, body and zonal control modules, and surround camera view systems.
