SCHURTER Launches High-Voltage Automotive Fuse for EVs

SCHURTER introduces the ADO Automotive Fuse Series. Engineered for demanding direct current applications, the new SCHURTER ADO fuse series offers a wide rated current range of 10 A to 63 A and supports continuous operation up to 40 A at 1000 VDC. Optimized for electric vehicles and high-voltage DC systems, the ADO series delivers reliable circuit protection in a compact, robust form. The fuse has a fast tripping characteristic, high current carrying capacity, and good vibration resistance. The ADO series is UL-certified. Technological features such as a patented filler formulation and special curing processes ensure safe arc extinguishing and prevent secondary arcing.

A total of 4 mounting options are provided in the SCHURTER ADO fuse family. In addition to a conventional variant for PCB assembly, there are 3 for screw mounting. The screw variants ensure a firm, mechanical fit even in the event of strong vibrations. They are also ideal for applications where high currents flow, as the contact resistance is low. The screw variant also offers advantages in terms of maintenance (can be replaced after tripping).

The new ADO fuse family has been specially developed for applications in the automotive sector. The possible applications are very diverse. These include battery management systems, onboard chargers, DC/DC converters, air conditioning compressors, and PTC heating systems, as well as various control systems (e.g., motor control).
