Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Luterbach, Switzerland, Schaffner has established itself as a global leader in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and radio frequency interference (RFI) solutions, offering a comprehensive range of products designed to ensure compliance with international EMC standards and improve the electromagnetic performance of electrical and electronic systems. The company’s mission is to empower customers by providing electromagnetic solutions that ensure their electronic systems operate reliably and efficiently, freeing them to focus on innovation. Schaffner aims to support a more sustainable and electrified society through shaping electrical power.
Key products
Schaffner’s EMI/RFI product suite spans from single-phase chassis filters, IEC inlet modules, compact three-phase filters, to high-power DC filters for EV and PV systems, plus PCB-integrated chokes designed for high-performance EMI suppression. Across all categories, design flexibility, safety-standard compliance, and engineering-backed support are strong distinguishing features. It also provides standardized as well as custom engineering solutions, backed by technical application notes and design guidance, especially for PCB-mounted RB choke-based filters, including leakage current design, corner-frequency selection, and component placement strategies for real-world compliance.
DC Filters
FN2200
DC filter products include FN2200, FN2210 / FN2211 (including HV versions), and FN2220 / FN2230 / FN2240, which are dedicated to high-power DC filtering in renewable energy and electric vehicle charging systems. These are capable of handling high currents from 25 A up to 2300 A, and voltages from 1000 VDC to 1500 VDC.
Single-Phase EMI Filters
FN2010
Schaffner single-phase EMI filters include products such as FN2010, which is a standard-performance chassis-mount EMI/RFI filter designed for AC or DC systems from 1 to 60 A at 230 VAC/DC. Schaffner's single-phase filters offer optional medical and safety types, as well as enhanced or DC-optimized versions. These filters provide effective general-purpose attenuation via robust chokes with low off-state leakage and thermal stability.
IEC Inlet Filters and Power Entry Modules
FN9244They include products such as FN9244, which is an IEC inlet-mounted EMI filter combining an inlet connector and filter in one package. These products offer high attenuation, versions with earth-line chokes, and compliance with medical-equipment standard IEC/EN 60601-1. They are available in rear/front mount and snap-in styles. Other inlet filter modules include FN9260, FN9280, FN9290, FN9264, etc., covering standard to very-high performance levels in power entry modules (with fuse/switch options) in the 1–20 A range.
Three-Phase Filters
FN355
Schaffner's three-phase filter portfolio includes products such as FN355, which is a compact four-wire three-phase filter rated for 3–20 A at 400 VAC. These products offer an ultra-compact design with very low leakage current and robust suppression for both star and delta systems.
EMC / RFI Chokes
RB Series
Schaffner’s RB series common-mode chokes are designed for integration on PCBs or power units, supporting currents from 16–50 A (up to 80 A with forced cooling). They are built with high saturation resistance ferrite cores and comply with global safety & environmental standards.
Schaffner provides a comprehensive suite of products to rebuild and maintain power quality in three-phase systems, ensuring compliance with international standards and customer-specific requirements. Their power-quality product portfolio includes active and passive harmonic filters, output (sinewave and dv/dt) filters, reactors, and LCL filters, which are all designed to mitigate harmonics, improve power factor, and support system reliability. Product portfolio includes active and passive harmonic filters, output, and LCL filters. They also offer the Power Quality Simulator (PQS)—a free web-based tool for modeling and simulating low-voltage three-phase networks, incorporating Schaffner’s own filters as well as third-party components, and checking compliance with power quality standards while generating detailed reports.
Schaffner has a long-standing, deepening partnership with a leading global manufacturer of high-power EV fast-charging stations, supplying its high-performance FN2220 DC filters. These filters meet both IEC/EN 61851-23 and UL 2202 EV-charging standards, allowing seamless integration into next-generation highway fast-chargers, enabling safe charging up to 600 A and 1000 VDC. Schaffner’s Active Harmonic Filters (AHFs) are designed to monitor and correct electrical harmonics in real time. These filters enhance power quality, efficiency, and reliability on critical production lines for sensitive applications like high-end pharma manufacturing.
TE Connectivity completed its acquisition of Schaffner Holding AG. This transition provides Schaffner with deep financial backing, TE’s global manufacturing and engineering capabilities, and access to a broader series of cross-market opportunities. Schaffner’s RT Series chokes (up to 32 A and beyond) were deployed early in a high-current solar project in Thailand, allowing critical EMI filtering in solar-plus-storage environments. Under TE Connectivity, Schaffner aims to accelerate product innovation, scale global engineering support, and leverage TE’s supply-chain resilience and sales channels across key verticals like EV-charging infrastructure, robotics, and grid energy storage.
Schaffner continues to be a major supplier of EMC filters to top EV fast-charging station OEMs. With new choke Series for photovoltaic inverters and low-leakage filters for robotics, plus active front-end systems like the FN3840, Schaffner is deeply embedded in the underlying technology that powers next-gen industrial automation, energy storage, and EV infrastructure.
