Geotab, a global leader in connected vehicle solutions, announced that Geotab’s platform can now connect to Tesla vehicles. The solution provides fleets with a single, connected platform to manage their portfolio of Tesla vehicles, from light-duty cars to heavy-duty semis. By harnessing insights from OEM-embedded telematics, this integration offers enhanced visibility and business efficiency. With no additional hardware required, fleets can gain significant cost advantages by eliminating installation expenses and can increase efficiency through a remote and contactless activation process. The solution is available for eligible Tesla models in Canada, United States and Europe.
Geotab’s ability to connect to Tesla vehicles provides centralized access to high-quality, connected vehicle data directly within the MyGeotab platform. With access to streamlined data, fleets with Tesla vehicles can now leverage powerful data insights and management tools to receive maintenance alerts that maximize vehicle uptime and monitor EV data to optimize energy use and productivity. By providing near real-time data like State of Charge (SoC) and remaining range, the solution helps fleets optimize charging strategies and improve vehicle utilization.
“The future of fleet management is connected and data-rich. Connecting the Geotab platform with Tesla vehicles is a significant step forward in providing our customers with the benefits of OEM-embedded telematics for an all-electric make,” said Christoph Ludewig, Vice President, EMEA at Geotab. “This solution empowers fleets to make the most of their Tesla vehicles by providing detailed insights into critical EV metrics like charging status, as well as productivity and location insights —all within the familiar MyGeotab environment. This level of visibility is crucial for fleets to confidently integrate EVs into their daily operations and plan for an electrified future. It’s about creating a seamless experience that drives performance and sustainability.”
The Geotab platform’s ability to connect to Tesla vehicles provides a comprehensive range of data points to optimize fleet operations across several key areas:
- Sustainability: Monitor EV-specific data, including battery level percentage, and remaining range to optimise charging strategies and reduce range anxiety.
- Fleet Optimization: Use odometer data for better maintenance planning and monitor vehicle status, such as tire pressure and outside temperature data.
- Safety: Analyze and promote safe driving habits by utilizing data on seat belt status, vehicle speed, acceleration, harsh braking, and cornering.
- Productivity: Leverage detailed GPS location tracking, trip and activity reports, and inventory management using geofencing.
The Geotab platform’s ability to connect to Tesla vehicles is available for all Tesla Models - except for Model X and S 2021 or older - in North America (including US Fed) and Europe.
