Cincon Launches Industrial-Grade Ultra-Wide Input DC-DC Converters

Cincon Electronics has announced the launch of its new EC2SAW8, EC3SAW8, and EC4SAW8 series of compact, high-isolation DC-DC converters, offering 2W, 3W, and 6W of regulated output power. Engineered for demanding industrial environments, the new series features an ultra-wide 8:1 input range, 3000 VDC isolation, and full compliance with IEC/UL/EN 62368-1 safety standards.

Despite their capabilities, the converters come in a space-saving 21.8 × 9.2 × 11.1 mm (0.86" × 0.36" × 0.44") package, making them suitable for size-constrained designs. Available output options include single voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and 15V, as well as dual outputs of ±5V, ±12V, and ±15V. All models support remote on/off control for streamlined system integration.

With an input range from 9 to 75VDC, the EC2SAW8, EC3SAW8, and EC4SAW8 series are suitable for common industrial and ITE power systems such as 12V, 24V, 48V, and 54VDC. They deliver high efficiency up to 88% and ensure reliable performance under harsh conditions, operating across wide case temperature ranges of -40°C to +110°C (EC2SAW8, EC3SAW8) and -40°C to +120°C (EC4SAW8).

Engineered with comprehensive protection features, including under-voltage lockout, output over-current protection, and continuous short-circuit protection, these converters meet key safety and EMI standards such as IEC/UL 62368-1 and EN 55032 Class A and Class B (with external filter). Notably, the EC2SAW8, EC3SAW8, and EC4SAW8 series require fewer external components to achieve Class B compliance compared to similar DC-DC converters, simplifying design and integration.

Applications

With their ultra-wide input range, the EC2SAW8, EC3SAW8, and EC4SAW8 series support a broad spectrum of applications such as sensors, control circuits, and communication modules for industrial automation & control, data acquisition systems, measurement devices, test instruments, transceivers, base stations, network communication equipment, and battery-operated and distributed power systems.
