Suzhou Inovance Automotive Systems, a leading provider of intelligent EV components and solutions, and Innoscience, a global leader in GaN process innovation and power device manufacturing, jointly announced that their next-generation 6.6kW on-board charger (OBC) system powered by 650V GaN devices has been successfully integrated into Changan vehicles. This new system achieves industry-leading charging efficiency and power density, setting a new benchmark for automotive power electronics.

Inovance Automotive's new 6.6kW GaN two-in-one power system integrates the on-board charger (OBC) and the DC-DC converter (DCDC). Through a globally optimized efficiency architecture—and leveraging Innoscience's 650V high-voltage GaN devices featuring ultra-low switching loss and high-frequency performance—the system delivers significant gains in overall performance:

  • 30% increase in power density, reaching 4.8 kW/L
  • Over 2% improvement in overall efficiency compared with similar products
  • 20% reduction in system weight, supporting the EV industry's pursuit of higher efficiency and lightweight design

The jointly developed next-generation 6.6kW GaN OBC solution optimizes internal vehicle packaging by saving space and enhancing integration flexibility at the vehicle level. Its high charging efficiency not only shortens charging time for end users but also supports notable energy savings, ultimately contributing to extended driving range.
