Potenza Showcases eBS-37 Battery System for Electric LCV and Minibuses

Potenza Technology has highlighted its eBS-37 battery system as a key technology platform supporting the electrification of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and minibuses. Designed specifically for demanding urban and regional duty cycles, the 37 kWh battery solution combines high-energy lithium-ion chemistry with an automotive-grade battery management and thermal architecture, enabling reliable, scalable energy storage for zero-emission commercial transport.

The eBS-37 is built around a modular battery architecture, allowing vehicle manufacturers to integrate the system across multiple vehicle platforms with minimal redesign. This modularity supports flexible packaging and enables OEMs to tailor energy capacity to specific range and payload requirements, a critical factor in LCV and passenger shuttle applications where operating profiles vary significantly.

At the cell level, the battery system uses nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) chemistry, selected for its balance of energy density, power capability, and cycle life. The pack is designed to support high depth-of-discharge operation, up to 95%, maximizing usable energy while maintaining long-term durability. This makes the eBS-37 particularly suited for high-utilization vehicles that operate on fixed routes or require frequent stop-and-go operation.

A central element of the system is Potenza Technology’s advanced battery management system (BMS), which continuously monitors cell voltage, temperature, and current to ensure safe and optimized operation under all conditions. The BMS is designed to support fast charging while maintaining tight control over thermal behavior, helping to reduce charging times without compromising battery longevity. Integrated thermal management further ensures stable performance across a wide operating temperature range, supporting consistent power delivery in both hot and cold environments.

The eBS-37 battery system has been engineered to meet automotive safety and reliability standards, with protection mechanisms for over-voltage, over-current, and thermal events. Its robust mechanical design supports installation in commercial vehicles where vibration resistance and structural integrity are essential. Together, these features enable the battery system to function as a dependable energy source across demanding real-world operating conditions.

By combining modular design, high-energy lithium-ion chemistry, and integrated control electronics, Potenza Technology positions the eBS-37 as a practical and scalable solution for OEMs, accelerating the transition to electric LCVs and minibuses. The system supports improved vehicle efficiency, reduced operating costs, and compliance with increasingly stringent emissions regulations in urban environments.
