Accelera's 17Xe eAxle to Advance Electrification of Heavy-Duty Commercial Vehicles

Accelera has expanded its eMobility portfolio with the introduction of the 17Xe integrated electric axle (eAxle), a high-performance traction solution engineered specifically for heavy-duty electric and hybrid commercial vehicles. Designed to meet the demanding requirements of Class 7 and Class 8 trucks, vocational vehicles, and off-highway applications, the 17Xe eAxle integrates the electric motor, power electronics, and transmission into a single, compact drive unit to optimize efficiency, packaging, and system reliability.

The 17Xe features a high-power electric drive system delivering up to 430 kW of continuous power and peak torque of approximately 2,000 Nm, enabling strong gradeability and launch performance under heavy loads. The eAxle supports high-voltage architectures from 450 V to 900 V, making it compatible with next-generation battery systems while improving overall drivetrain efficiency. An integrated silicon carbide (SiC)–based inverter enhances switching efficiency and thermal performance, contributing to reduced energy losses and extended vehicle range.

The 17Xe eAxle is designed to support gross axle weights of up to 13,000 kg, addressing the structural and durability demands of heavy commercial platforms. By consolidating multiple drivetrain components into a single assembly, the system reduces overall vehicle mass, simplifies installation, and frees up valuable chassis space for increased battery capacity or auxiliary systems. Integrated regenerative braking capability enables effective energy recovery during deceleration, improving total system efficiency and reducing brake wear.

Built for real-world operating conditions, the 17Xe eAxle meets functional safety requirements up to ISO 26262 ASIL-C and complies with ISO 21434 cybersecurity standards, ensuring secure and reliable operation in connected vehicle environments. High ingress protection ratings and robust thermal management enable consistent performance in harsh duty cycles, including construction, refuse, and long-haul freight operations. The system is engineered for seamless OEM integration, supporting flexible vehicle architectures and software-based control strategies.

With the 17Xe eAxle, Accelera strengthens its position as a key technology enabler for the electrification of heavy-duty transportation, delivering a scalable, high-power solution that helps fleet operators reduce emissions while maintaining performance, durability, and total cost of ownership.
