Skeleton Technologies has advanced the state of energy storage with its SuperBattery® technology, a high-performance solution engineered to bridge the long-standing gap between conventional lithium-ion batteries and ultracapacitors. Built on Skeleton’s proprietary Curved Graphene® material, SuperBattery is designed to deliver exceptionally high-power density, ultra-fast charging capability, and extended cycle life, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and sustainability.

SuperBattery combines capacitor-like power characteristics with significantly higher usable energy than traditional supercapacitors. The Curved Graphene® electrode architecture enables very low equivalent series resistance (ESR), minimizing resistive losses and heat generation during high-current operation. As a result, SuperBattery cells can charge in less than 90 seconds and sustain tens of thousands of charge–discharge cycles, far exceeding the cycling capability of typical lithium-ion chemistries while maintaining stable performance.

Skeleton’s SuperBattery portfolio includes cylindrical cell formats such as the D35 and D60, optimized for high-power and short-duration energy applications. These cells deliver power densities in the multi-kilowatt per liter range alongside meaningful energy density, enabling compact system designs capable of handling rapid power transients. The inherent electrochemical stability of the Curved Graphene® system significantly reduces thermal runaway risk, supporting safe operation under high currents, rapid charging, and extreme operating conditions.

The SuperBattery technology is deployed in modular solutions such as Graphene-based Battery Backup Units (BBUs) for data centers and critical infrastructure. These systems integrate advanced DC/DC power electronics and intelligent battery management systems (BMS) to deliver regulated, high-efficiency power, supporting peak power levels in the megawatt range for short durations. In data center applications, SuperBattery-based BBUs enable near-instantaneous ride-through during grid disturbances, reducing reliance on diesel generators and improving overall power system resilience.
