The ADBMS2950B from Analog Devices is a Battery Pack Monitor IC for current or voltage sense applications. It requires an input voltage of 4.5-20 V. This battery management IC (BMIC) enables precise measurement of battery pack current by sensing the voltage drop across a shunt resistor. It supports redundant current measurement with dual current ADCs operating at a high sampling frequency of up to 4.5 MHz, minimizing external filtering requirements and improving noise immunity. This BMIC is integrated with triple-redundant overcurrent detection using fast overcurrent ADCs with programmable thresholds and PWM-capable alert outputs for rapid fault response. It features a flexible communication architecture with a built-in isoSPI™ interface supporting up to 2 Mbps isolated communication over long distances, as well as a standard 4-wire SPI option. This BMIC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 7 x 7 x 0.75 mm and is ideal for backup battery systems and grid energy storage.
