The NB7141ZA Series from Nisshinbo Micro Devices is a Single-Cell Li-ion Battery Protection IC ideal for wearable/hearable devices, smartphones, and handheld data terminal applications. It requires an input voltage of 1.5-5 V. This protection IC consists of logic circuits, an oscillator, standby/WDT circuit, counter, level shifter, error amplifiers, and other active/passive elements. It includes low voltage and high accuracy over-current detection scheme that achieves heat reduction on board by using a low sense resistor. This protection IC also supports other protection circuits to prevent over-charging, over-discharging, and short-circuit conditions. It has a watchdog timer to monitor the microcontroller’s operating condition.
This IC’s low operating current and standby current can extend the battery life even when the capacity is small. It can also enter forced standby mode using the STB pin, which can further extend the battery life. This single-cell IC is available in a wafer-level package that measures 1.6 x 1 x 0.3 mm.
