The MP5022C from Monolithic Power Systems is a Hot-Swap Protection eFuse IC that is designed to protect the circuitry on the output side from transients due to input signaling. It requires an input voltage of 4.5 - 16 V. This eFuse IC features an external capacitor to control the slew rate at the output. It integrates a 3-milli-ohms power FET transistor whose gate is driven by an internal charge pump. This eFuse IC includes an IMON option to produce a voltage proportional to the current through the power device. It features sense FET topology by which the maximum load at the output is current limited and its magnitude is controlled by a low-power resistor connected between the ISET pin and ground.
This eFuse IC benefits from output current measurement with a ±3% current monitor accuracy. It consists of current limit protection, over-voltage protection, under-voltage protection, thermal shutdown, and damaged MOSFET detection. This eFuse IC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3 x 5 mm and is ideal for hot-swap laptops, disk drives, servers, networking, and PC card applications.
