The MF72-001.5D15 from Cantherm is a Power Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) Thermistor that has been designed to suppress in-rush currents that flow to sensitive electronic components. It has a current rating of up to 8 A and a resistance of 1.5 ohms. This thermistor, when connected in series with the power source, limits the current surges typically created at turn-on. It provides a very cost-effective alternative to curb surge currents and protect sensitive electronics from over-current-related damages.

This thermistor’s resistance rapidly decreases to a very low value once the circuit is energized and therefore, power consumption becomes negligible. It is available in a through-hole package that measures 17.5 x 6 mm and is ideal for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), energy-saving lamps, electronic ballasts, filament protection for lamps and heaters, power supplies, and inverter applications.
