The NEX13120PC-Q100Y from Nexperia is an Automotive-Qualified 12-Channel High-Side LED Driver IC that is ideal for automotive exterior rear light and headlight applications. It requires an input voltage of 3.8-36 V. This LED driver has a unique design that can meet the growing demand for individual control of each LED string. It consists of 12 channels and each channel supports both analog and 12-bit pulse width modulation (PWM)-based dimming to control the intensity of LEDs, and provides an output current of up to 100 mA (per channel). The dimming operation can be controlled via the UART interface and this IC has an internal multi-time programmable memory (MTP) that enables users to set the dimming configurations in the event of communication loss. This ensures compliance with system-level safety requirements.
This AEC-Q100-qualified LED driver’s UART interface is also compliant with PHY interfaces such as CAN or LIN, and can support off-board connectivity with the transition of CAN or LIN-based transceivers. This driver IC includes various protection and diagnostics circuitries to detect and prevent events such as LED open-circuit, short-circuit, and single-LED short-circuit. It also has an on-chip A/D converter that monitors output conditions in real time and a configurable watchdog that sets the IC to fail-safe states when the CAN bus connection is lost. This IC is available in a thermally-enhanced surface-mount package that measures 7.8 x 4.4 x 1.2 mm.
