The A3901 from Allegro MicroSystems is a Dual Full-Bridge Motor Driver designed for low-voltage portable applications involving bipolar stepper or brushed DC motors. It requires an operating voltage of 2.5-5.5 V and delivers an output current of up to ±400 mA per channel. This motor driver features low RDS(on) MOSFET outputs, minimizing power dissipation and ensuring efficient motor control in compact systems. The A3901 accepts logic inputs compatible with 3–5 V systems and supports both full- and half-step operation for stepper motors, as well as forward, reverse, and brake modes for DC motors. It enables current and speed regulation through PWM control up to 250 kHz. This driver integrates crossover-current protection, thermal shutdown, and sleep mode (with a typical current drain of 50 nA) to enhance reliability and reduce power consumption. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3 × 3 × 0.75 mm.
