The BRD2163C-TL from Power Integrations is a Self-Powered Half-bridge Motor Driver with integrated device protection and system monitoring. It requires an input voltage of 0.8-2.5 V. This motor driver incorporates two high-voltage N-channel power FREDFETs with low and high-side drivers. The internal power FREDFETs feature ultra-soft and ultra-fast body diodes ideally suited for hard-switched inverter drives. It has a controlled FREDFET switching speed that reduces EMI and provides an efficiency of up to 99%. This motor driver provides accurate instantaneous phase current information output (IPH), thereby eliminating external sensing and amplification circuitry. It has less than 4 mW power consumption from a 325 VDC bus in sleep mode when self-supplied.

This high-voltage motor driver includes internal dual-level thermal overload protection and self-configuring system-level monitoring input. It also benefits from simultaneous conduction lockout protection, selectable latching or hysteretic over-temperature and sustained over-current protection. This motor driver is available in a surface-mount package that measures 10.8 x 9.4 x 1.45 mm and is ideal for appliances including dish washers, refrigerators and ceiling fans, fans in high efficiency air conditioners, circulation pumps, 1 or 3-phase high-voltage PM and BLDC motor drives.
