The BRD2165C-TL from Power Integrations is an Integrated Half-bridge Motor Driver. It has a breakdown voltage of over 600 V and an output current of up to 5.5 A. This motor driver withstands a temperature of –40 to +150 °C and achieves up to 99% efficiency, eliminating the need for an external heat sink at the rated continuous RMS current of 1 A. It consumes less than 4 mW from a 325 VDC bus in sleep mode and supports complementary PWM control. This motor driver integrates 600 V N-channel power FREDFETs with ultra-soft, fast-recovery body-diodes and features instantaneous phase-current output, eliminating the need for external current-sense circuitry. It has self-biased low-side and high-side drivers, which eliminates the need for an auxiliary power supply. This motor driver includes cycle-by-cycle current limiting and dual-level thermal overload protection to ensure reliable fault handling. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 13.63 x 9.40 mm and is suitable for single- or three-phase high-voltage PM and BLDC motor drives, as well as appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators, and ceiling fans, fans in high-efficiency air conditioners, and circulation pumps.
