The BD68960EKV-CE2 from ROHM Semiconductor is an Automotive-Qualified Bipolar Stepper Motor Driver that is ideal for EGR valves, printers, PPC, scanners, monitoring cameras, sewing machines, and robotics applications. It requires an input voltage of 35 V and provides an output current of ±1.8 A (per phase). This AEC-Q100-qualified motor driver consists of a control logic, 2 dual H-bridge drivers, MOSFETs, a regulator, protection circuitries, an error detector, an oscillator, 2-bit D/A converter, operational amplifiers, and other electronic components. It uses PARA-IN mode for driving the input interface and controls the rotation of the motor in full, half, and quarter steps. This motor driver IC has a built-in noise-masking function to suppress the noise, thereby eliminating the need to utilize an external noise filter.
This RoHS-compliant bipolar stepper motor driver is equipped with an open detection function, current limiter, Power ON reset circuit, over-current protection circuit, and diagnostics for the output stage (open drain). It also has an exposed metal-based housing to support high-heat radiation away from the IC and is available in a surface-mount package that measures 12 x 12 x 1 mm.
