The GANSPIN612 from STMicroelectronics is a Half-Bridge GaN Motor Driver that integrates two enhancement-mode GaN transistors in a half-bridge configuration with a high-voltage, high-frequency gate driver for motion control applications. It requires an input voltage of 3.3-20 V. This motor driver has a breakdown voltage of 650 V and an on-state drain-source resistance of 270 milli-ohms. It has a drain-source current of up to 5.5 A and is capable of reverse conduction with zero reverse recovery loss. This motor driver delivers an output dV/dt of 10 V/ns for hard switching, with externally adjustable turn-on dV/dt to enhance EMI performance, motor winding reliability, and ball bearing longevity. It includes comparator-based overcurrent detection with smart shutdown, UVLO on VCC, VHS, and VLS supplies, interlocking to prevent cross-conduction, overtemperature shutdown, shutdown/standby pins, and fault output.
This RoHS-compliant motor driver integrates linear regulators to stabilize high- and low-side driver supplies and incorporates an internal bootstrap diode to streamline high-side biasing. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 9 x 9 x 1 mm and is ideal for home appliances, compressors, pumps, fans, personal care appliances, factory automation, servo drives and power tool applications.
