The LTC4246 from Analog Devices is a Programmable Electronic Circuit Breaker that is ideal for ATE wafer probe electronics, scope probe protection, industrial control, and relay replacement applications. It requires an input voltage of 5 - 13.2 V. This surge suppressor consists of eight compact SPST switches, each with an independent circuit breaker function, making them suitable for extremely space-constrained designs. It is programmable in steps of 50 mA and can withstand a threshold current up to 1.5 A with an accuracy of 12%. This surge protector can either allow the switches to operate autonomously or be arbitrarily grouped with other switches that will respond together to the fault of any single device within its group. It also allows channel grouping to be extended to multiple LTC4246 devices by selecting the FIN (fault input) pin as part of the channel group. This surge suppressor indicates a common open-drain FAULT status output signal if any switch has been opened due to a circuit breaker event. It can be remotely controlled and configured via a SPI serial interface. This surge protector is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3 x 5 x 0.95 mm.
