The MLV0402E3 from Vishay is a Multilayer Bidirectional Chip Varistor that is ideal for over-voltage and transient voltage protection, data lines and I/O port protection, protection against ESD transients, on-board protection of ICs and transistors, modem protection, and LCD protection applications. It has an AC voltage rating of 4 - 14 V, a DC voltage rating of 1.6 - 18 V, and a clamping voltage of 15.5 - 40 V. This varistor offers surge-suppressing capabilities and bidirectional clamping. It has an excellent energy-to-volume ratio and includes NiSn terminations. This varistor is suitable for reflow soldering and is available in a surface-mount package that measures 1.0 x 0.5 x 0.6 mm.
