Configuring the storage capacitor in a Pulsiv OSMIUM AC to DC front end design

The Pulsiv Osmium microcontroller provides an intelligent, active valley fill approach to achieving power factor correction. To specify a suitable capacitance, the energy stored in the capacitor needs to be sufficient to meet the load requirements during the valley fill stage. At 50Hz, the storage capacitor is required to provide the load energy for a longer time period compared to 60Hz. Therefore, the capacitance value should be calculated using the lower grid frequency of 50Hz.
