Increasing Turn-On Delay Time for VPT DC-DC Converters

Download Whitepaper
Many power applications with multiple power modules require sequencing to reduce inrush current and maintain system reliability. VPT DC-DC converters can be sequenced by increasing the turn-on delay time. Furthermore, increasing the turn-on delay allows the converter to remain off until the input voltage is at a steady state. This offers advantages for applications with a slowly rising input voltage by reducing high current draw when the input voltage is below its steady state level. This document provides an overview on how to increase the turn-on delay time on VPT DC-DC converters, the factors that affect the turn-on delay time, and shows turn-on delay time waveforms.
